A wine as beautiful as superb 1.Cru, just at a different price - especially right here! A great Bordeaux from the "reserved" vintage, which is only now approaching 21 years after maturity. Perfect bottle, perfectly stored. Daily price: 1499 (https://www.wine-searcher.com/merchant/108469?wine_id_F=183181).
95p / Jeff Leve i WineCellarInsider (smagt april 2017): "One of the top wines from Medoc offers a lot of character and style. The wine is elegant, soft and shows a lot of polish to the sweet, cassis and plums, that are only made better by the notes of tobacco, cedar and wet earth. The wine was produced from a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. This is quite good now and should get even better with time. "

91p / Parker: A supremely elegant, dense purple-colored effort, the 1998 reveals aromas of cassis, black raspberries, minerals, and currants. Precise, well-delineated, and medium to full-bodied, with magnificent purity and understated elegance, this noble, restrained wine reveals a tannic finish, suggesting 4-5 more years of cellaring is warranted. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2025 "(in 2001).
Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the few castles that has managed to remain in the possession of the same family for generations. It is located between Beychevelle in the south and Latour in the north. The castle covers 215 hectares, only the 49 hectares are in production. Here, on the other hand, there are as many as 10,000 plants per. hectares divided into 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, with the average age of 40 years for Bordeaux. The wines from the different plots are fermented separately, and when the fermentation is over, the extensive tasting takes place in order to piece together the first wines, which are subsequently filled into casks bought from 7 different cobblers. The ripening time is the classic 18 months, and in recent years at least 70% of the dishes have been new.
The ambitions are high at Château Ducru-Beaucaillou and this can be seen in the number of bottles produced. Thus, in the 1980s, annual production easily rolled past 250,000 bottles. Today, that number is halved!
This means a wine that is more intense and concentrated than before, and every year we succeed in creating an experience of pure fruit, ripe tannins and a unique harmony found only in the very best Bordeaux wines. Can be picked up or sent.
