Frecciarossa was born in 1919, when my great-grandfather Mario Odero fell in love with the Oltrepò Pavese hills, he who until then traded coal between his hometown, Genoa, and England, where he lived. Frecciarossa derives from the erroneous transcription of the ancient toponym Fraccia Rossa, i.e. "red landslide," to say of the clayey earth, furrowed by ferruginous veins, frequently subject to the moods of groundwater.
