This fine Domaine is located in the town of Prémaux-Prissey, just south of the Nuits Saint Georges. The domain was created in the 1930s by Julien Missery. In 1971, it was taken over by Bernard Chézeaux, who sold most of his wine to the negotiators in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune. Bernard passed away in 1993, when his son Jérôme Chézeaux takes over. Right from the start, Jérôme had a desire to tap and sell his wines himself, rather than deliver to the negotiators.
The domain consists of approx. 12 hectares of vineyards, some of which came from Jérôme's wife, Pierrette. The vineyards, managed according to the sustainable "lutte raisonnée" method, are located in the municipalities of Prémeaux, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée, and they include a number of the finest 1. Crus as well as a small and unusually well-located plot in Grand Cru Clos Vougeot.
In the basement, Jérôme pays homage to the principle of minimum intervention. According to Jérôme, if the grapes are ripe and perfectly healthy, you get the best result by letting nature do its work. Jérôme uses between one-third and one-quarter new casks and bottles its wines without filtration between 18 and 24 months after harvest. Harmony, balance and class are what go on as a common thread in Jérôme Chezeaux's wines. Add to this a fine concentration and a clear terroir touch, and we have all the virtues of great classic Burgundies.
