Ernesto Ruffo Campogadis Valpolicella Superiore 2013

This Campogadis Valpolicella Superiore is made from grapes from the volcanic hills around San Bricco, in fact the same fields that supply the grape to Ruffos Amarone… here it is just the second best grapes… 40% Corvinone, 40% Corvina and 20% Rondinella.

The Corvina and Rondinella grapes are dried for 30 days and after fermentation, the wine is stored for 24 months in French 500 liter oak barrels, followed by 12-15 months in bottle. The alcohol is a known less than previous year… only 15.5% high octane - BANG.

Campogadi's Valpolicella Superiore remains a thick, bold, powerful and fierce magic cube with atomic bomb intensity. It is dried fruit, plums, black cherries, the bottom of grandma's cupboard, blueberries, dates and junipers, boot trampling, mahogany hardwood, railway sleepers, licorice, dark 85% cocoa chocolate, smoke and a little menthol.

The taste is also almost explosive, potent juice with tons of fruit power, fatness, sweetness, oak, great dryness, chocolate and clear tannins. There is raw power with raw cocoa and crossfit for real men. Chew it, bite it and enjoy it. Violent and yet satanically alluring. Better than most Amarones.
