The wines of Château d'Yquem are characterized by their complexity, content and sweetness. A relatively high acidity helps balance the sweetness. Another characteristic for which Château d'Yquem wine is known is its longevity. In fact, a bottle begins to show its qualities only after a year or two of aging in the cellar, and with care, it is preserved for a century or more, progressively adding fruity nuances. In terms of price positioning, a bottle can range from a few hundred euros for the "younger" ones to several tens of thousands of euros for the more "mature" ones.
