Côte-Rôtie is the best appellation in the Rhône Valley, and no one can surpass (let alone match) Guigal's wines from here. Côte Brune et Blonde alludes to the fact that the wine is grown on two different slopes in Côte-Rôtie: Côte Brune is characterized by a dark soil that highlights the power and intensity of the Syrah grown there. Côte Blonde is characterized by a lighter, chalky soil where, in addition to Syrah, microscopic amounts of the green Viognier are also grown. A velvety, super complex wine with huge potential for aging.
