Barbera d' Asti Zavattero Barbara 1999

Recognized as a Controlled Designation of Origin way back in 1970, Barbera d'Asti has undergone the most interesting developments in recent times, which materialized in 2000 with the inclusion in the disciplinary of three distinct sub-zones, Nizza (autonomous DOC since 2016), Tinella and Colli Astiani, and in 2008 with the recognition of the Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin, testimony of the growth path taken. Grown on the best exposed hills of the Asti and Monferrato areas, Barbera is usually harvested in the second half of September. If in the field the production process is univocal, marked as it is in the search for quality, in the cellar there are two interpretations that have established themselves. Alongside the vinification in steel, which gives life to fresher and more immediate wines, the use of barriques and casks has developed, aimed at producing the Superiore type, more complex and destined for a postponed consumption over time. Although immediate and easy to drink, Barbera d'Asti is a wine capable of waiting for years for the best moment to be consumed.
