Behind the name Lou Dumont is the Japanese/Korean couple Koji Nakada and Jae Hwa Park. Koji worked for several years as a sommelier at top French restaurants in Tokyo. Later, his love of wine and Burgundy in particular drew him to France. Here he met and later married his Korean French teacher, all the while apprenticed at several prominent domaines in the Côte de Nuits and trained as an oenologist in Beaune.
The first wines were produced in 2000, and the dream of owning a small cellar in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin came true in 2003. The majority of the wines are made as nègociant from purchased grapes based on long-term contracts with good acquaintances, all of whom work with sustainable, organic or biodynamic agriculture.
What all their wines have in common is that they are classic, pure and charming examples that manage to express the appellation they come from at a fantastic price-quality ratio.
