From top producer in Hérault Mas des Armes.
Domaine du Mas des Armes is located near two world-renowned monasteries, Gellone and Saint Benoît. It is located in the famous commune of Aniane, with sought-after terroirs (of Mondavi and Depardieu among others), which allow the production of a wide range of wines of a quality rarely obtained from a tradition that goes back several millennia, and that making it the oldest vineyard in France.
The Aniane vineyard is actually one of the most famous winter roirs in the Languedoc and has produced the best such as Mas de Daumas Gassac and Grange des Pères, two world-renowned estates that can rival the greatest wines on the planet. The desire of the Puccini family, owners of the Mas des Armes estate, is to explore all the possibilities offered by the palette of their grape varieties on the famous Aniane terroir. It is a young estate whose vines, of great age, are located on some of the most beautiful terroirs in this valley.
Color: brilliant ruby color with purple reflections.
Nose: very delicious, with fruity aromas (black currant, black cherry, quetches plum, prune), flowers (peony, violet, freesia), mint, licorice.
Mouth: soft and fruity attack, quite fleshy. In the mouth, the material is velvety. The tannins are fresh and crisp.
Storage potential 5-7 years
Grand Vin Blanc
Have you ever dreamed how deliciously buttery Meursault would taste with a splash of minerally Sancerre? Then you can look forward to Château Guilhem's organic flagship - truly a "Grand Vin"... The white wine glides over the tongue with such outrageous power and French elegance that castle owner and winemaker Bertrand Gourdou can actually safely upgrade the name to "Très Grand Vin"! Beautiful golden. The nose takes us on an exotic scent journey from fresh apples and mineral citrus to pineapple, melon and mango. Elegantly enveloped in butter, vanilla and creme brulee from the dish. The taste is rich and spicy like white Burgundy, while Sauvignon Blanc adds a mouthwatering mineral freshness. Perfectly matched super blend! 60% Chardonnay and 40% Sauvignon Blanc. Only the finest grapes. Only from the oldest vines. Chardonnay matures like a luxuriously spicy Meursault in small burgundy casks, while Sauvignon Blanc's aromatic freshness is preserved by maturing in larger casks.
Organic and highly aromatic red wine from southern French Roussillon with dark berries and spices in the taste. Sublime intense bouquet and full of power, dark berries and fine roasted aromas are gently underlaid with elegant wood notes. The rich fruit aromas literally linger on the palate. In its price range, it is an absolute insider tip! Vivino rating of 4.2 and price of DKK 260.
My own personal favorite. 2017 is just sitting in the closet! Finesse and power at the same time. Really value for money and I promise you won't be disappointed! Eco, handmade, few bottles produced each year by small independent vigneron.
