This Penfolds Magill Estate is made from 100% hand-picked Shiraz grapes from Adelaide, one of the few vineyards in the world located within the city limits. The estate has 5 hectares of Shiraz, which are grown without any form of irrigation. This gives a low yield with great concentration.
Originally, Magill Estate was used for a number of years as grapes for the "Penfolds Grange" wine, but is now a stand-alone wine. A wine that can shed a natural sediment during its maturation.
Magill Estate Shiraz, first produced in 1983 and aged for 15 months in American and French oak barrels.
A sleek and modern wine, yet crafted in the original way. It is an elegant mid-weight style with velvety structure and fine tannins.
Where the palate is structured and powerful with notes of licorice, anise, sour cherries and molasses from Magill's microclimate and hints of hazelnut from the barrel aging.
