La Grande Dame from Veuve Clicquot is the house's prestige cuvée and is only produced in selected vintages. Behind the wine is one of Champagne's most traditional houses, known for their distinctive style and consistent quality. 2006 was a generally warm vintage with good ripening conditions, which often results in wines with generous fruitiness, roundness and a pronounced aging potential.
The cuvée is dominated by Pinot Noir, with a smaller proportion of Chardonnay. During production, only grapes from Grand Cru vineyards are used, which is reflected in the depth and finesse of the wine. The wine is aged on the lees for a long time, which gives complexity and fine, integrated bubbles. Internationally, the 2006 vintage has generally received very solid reviews – for example, 95 points at Wine Advocate and 97 points at Wine Spectator – and is still considered to have development potential if stored correctly.
