Burmester is a traditional port wine house with historical roots in Vila Nova de Gaia. Port wines from this producer are characterized by a balanced style, where fruitiness and structure often go hand in hand. The range spans both Ruby, Tawny and Vintage port, and the wines are traditionally made primarily from local grape varieties from the Douro Valley such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. Burmester works with classic methods, including foot-trampling of grapes on selected cuvées and traditional aging in cellars close to the river. The wines often stand for an elegant profile with a focus on purity and well-integrated sweetness rather than massive power.
