Produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes from the vineyards in the Manzoni Soprani area, the "Vigna d'la Roul" takes its name from the mammoth oak tree that shoots up in the middle of the land. Splendid lot consisting of 5 bottles of Spanna Castello San Lorenzo from 1972 by the master winemaker Antonio Vallana The production area falls within the municipality of Gattinara, in the province of Vercelli. Like other prestigious Piedmontese wines, Gattinara is also produced from Nebbiolo grapes. The name probably derives from "Catuli Ara" or Ara di Catullo. In fact, it seems that the city of Gattinara rises in the place where the Proconsul Lutatius Catulus sacrificed to the gods the war spoils of the Cimbri conquered in the surrounding area in 101 BC. Recent archaeological finds attest that wine has been produced in this area since Roman times. The Marquis of Gattinara, Cardinal Mercurino Arborio, Chancellor of Charles V and lover of the wine of his lands, dared to present this wine to the Court of the King of Spain. Barbaresco "Basarin", Tenuta Moccagatta. Moccagatta er den eneste seriøse konkurrent til Gaja, og i denne forrygende årgang, er den måske bedre. Unik og svær at opdrive. Basarinmarken ligger i Neive kommune, som er den østligste del af området et stykke fra vingården. Moccagatta har 1.7 ha. på sydvendt skråning. Jorden er lidt lettere end på "Cole" og "Bric Balin" markerne. Høj frugtintensitet med mange nuancer på en saftig og imødekommende måde. En af barolos store producenter, der lagrer sine baroloer på fransk egefade, og hører bl.a. derfor i kategorien en modernist. Det gør den mere tilgængelig i sine unge år, men kan også sagtens klare nogle år i gemmeren. Og så er årgangen den bedste. Altid opbevaret i vinkøleskab. Wine-searcher rammer ikke prisen.

Fabulous bottle of Spanna Umberto Fiore dated 1971 in magnum format in excellent condition in all respects. The Spanna is an Italian red wine produced from Nebbiolo grapes grown within the boundaries of the municipality of Gattinara which is located in the hills north of the province of Vercelli, north-west of Novara in Piedmont. The wine is made from a minimum of 90% Nebbiolo grapes and is renowned for its longevity. Notes: a fleshy and full-bodied wine with a subtle and clean nose. Hints of tar and bark, with nuances of cherries and rose petals. Light tannins.

Monfortino is a Barolo, an expressive, deep and territorial Barolo, just like the cellar founded by the Conterno family in 1900. The first time a Monfortino label appeared was in 1924, as the vineyards were mostly near Monforte d 'Alba, while since 1974 Monfortino has been produced with grapes from Vigna Francia di Serralunga d'Alba. The bunches are chosen with care and abundance, vinification takes place through an alcoholic fermentation process in oak vats with maceration on the skins; subsequent malolactic fermentation in oak barrels from Austria. The refinement lasts 84 months and is carried out in large barrels. Monfortino is a traditional Barolo produced with Nebbiolo grapes of the best quality and with a unique characteristic: It is able to age in an excellent way for tens of years. Even after many years of aging they do not seem to affect the quality of this wine.

Vi befinder os her i vinområdet Langhe, hvor landskabet er præget af vinstokke, og hvor vine har knyttet generationer sammen gennem årene.
