/ #12676467
Size: 750 ml (Standard)
Red
Quantity: 2 bottles (total price)

2 bottles of excellent Port at a ridiculous price - Niepoort alone will often cost around DKK 250.
Niepoort is one of the most highly regarded small family houses, especially for Vintage Port.
2017 Vintage gets 99100p by Parker -LBV is less perfect, but on the other hand nice already, although it can be stored for 10-20+ years. 2015 got 94p/JamesSuckling -and 2017 is far better, but not yet rated.
Very deep, rich fruit with forest berries and chocolate. Long full and warm taste with good acidity under sweetness and fruit. Great now, can be stored for 20 years.
Offley 2018 LBV - is nice already, delicious fullness and very long taste with similar notes of berries and forest floor, long, softer sma. GLot already - otherwise save 9-12 years. 2018 has not been tasted, but easily matches predecessor 2017 with 92p/WIneEnthusiast.
Offley is one of the oldest houses (1737) owned by the Offley family, where a William was Lord Mayor of London in 1556.
. In 1787, the house was considered one of the leading "British" houses in Oporto. In 1831 James Forrester was employed in the house and later became part owner and director. He was one of the great intellectuals of the time, politically as well as artistically - and was knighted in 1855 as Baron Forrester by the King of Portugal for a series of maps of the Douro (one of them can be seen here). He was a very good friend of Dona Antonia Ferreira and accompanied her on a journey from Quinta Vesuvio down the river. The boat sank and the baron drowned (due to heavy belts with gold coins!), while Antonia survived thanks to her "balloon dress". In 1995, Offley Forrester was bought by Sogrape, which had bought Ferreira 8 years before. Thus ´Ferrester and Ferreira met again - a good 130 years after the baron's death! Photo: The basement of the house in Gaia. Baron Forrester's old hunting lodge above Pinhao is today a hotel (pousada, the undersigned has lived there). The Baron's Card.
2017 was an excellent vintage with heat and little rain. Harvest started in September in perfect weather. The grapes come from Vinhas da Pisca, Vale do Pinhão and Ferrão, vines averaging over 70 years. The grapes are trampled and stored for 3.5 years in oak before bottling in July 2021. 80,000 fl.
