A good buy at DKK 200-250 for one bottle. Here you get two for almost the same price! 2019 is a superb vintage in Burgundy, where for once everything came together...
You can taste it in this delicious pinot, which has colour, body and lots of fruit paired with a little oak and tannin. Flot now after 3-4 years, but will probably get better in 2-4 years.
The charming village of Chorey lies a little north of Beaune itself at the foot of the mighty Corton Grand Cru mountain. Quite a bit of wine is made, which is not so well known, but often excellent buys.
Moillard is a historic house (1850), which fell into disrepair in the 00s under Béjot, but 10 years ago was taken over by the Helfrich family, which slowly delivers better and better wine. The house owns a large domain in Burgundy (325 hectares), a small part of which is precisely in Chorey. The wine comes from old vines (over 40 years).
Joseph Helfrich (with photo, 3 generations of the family) has made fortunes from cheap wine such as JP Chenet and is now using the money to repair his reputation with great wines such as du Tertre (5.Cru Margaux), Lestate Simon (Haut Medoc), Beauregard Pomerol - and more and more in Burgundy.
4.1/5 - Vivino. Last tasted by Bjørn Bundgaard : "5*. This is delicious! It has some body and depth in the taste, but very little tannin, which means that you quickly get through the bottle. Nice ruby red color and well-balanced acidity."
