Château Batailley Pauillac 2019

Château Batailley was classified 5th Cru Classé in 1855 under the ownership of the Pierre Borie family, who lived in the château and who in 1870 founded one of the most recognized wine houses in the area: Borie-Manoux. The son Eugène Borie continued both the château and the company until 1939 and after World War II his son, Marcel, took over Château Batailley and moved the company Borie-Manoux itself to Bordeaux – where it still has its headquarters today. In 1961, Marcel Borie handed over the company to his son-in-law, Emile Castéja, and today it is Emile's son, Philippe Castéja – and thus the 5th generation – who is at the helm, already well helped by the 6th generation. You can therefore safely talk about continuity and family tradition at Château Batailley!
