Côte-Rôtie is the best appellation in the Rhône Valley, and none can surpass (let alone match) the wines from Guigal. Côte Brune et Blonde refers to the fact that the wine is grown on two different slopes in Côte-Rôtie: Côte Brune is characterized by a dark soil that highlights the power and intensity of the Syrah that is grown there. Côte Blonde is characterized by a lighter, chalky soil where, in addition to Syrah, microscopic amounts of the green Viognier are also grown. A velvety, super-complex wine with huge potential for aging.
