Markus Molitor is one of the major producers in Mosel, and he has chosen not to be part of the VDP, as he believes it limits him in terms of all the different classifications of his wines that he would like to make...
A wine like this is therefore at the absolute top of Molitor's selection... The gold capsule means that it is a sweet wine (and it is only 7.5%), and it is an Auslese, where the grapes are fully ripe and carefully selected.
In addition, Molitor runs a star system, between 1-3 stars, which is an indication of how selective they have been in selecting the most perfect grapes. A 3-star wine, like this one, therefore means that only the absolute best grapes have been used in this wine, which have been carefully selected manually. A huge wine!
