Red

From a high plateau in Saint-Émilion, this producer works with a strong focus on the Merlot grape, complemented by a small touch of Cabernet Franc. The property has Grand Cru Classé status and is run under the same ownership as its famous neighbour, which characterizes both style and ambition.

2016 marks a year of remarkable balance and concentration in Bordeaux. The conditions produced wines with depth, maturity and structure, without losing freshness. The style here is straight and mineral with dark fruit, firm tannin backbone and clear expression of terroir. The wine has significant aging potential; even today there is a youthful touch, but complexity and finesse are expected to unfold further in the coming years. Wine Advocate has traditionally rated this wine highly in strong years like 2016.

Prior to the 2022 vintage, this wine was classified as Grand Cru Classe.

Critic tasting note: (2016 vintage) "Opulent, rich, ripe and already allowing some of its floral, licorice, dark cherry and smoky plums to poke through, the wine is full-bodied, concentrated and will request 7-8 years in the cellar, or more, before its fully developed. 94 Points" - Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider

2016 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2019
Amazing, pure cherries, plums and flowers, as well as crushed stones. It jumps out of the glass. Full body, powerful tannins and a freshness and roundness to it. Lightly salty on the finish. Great structure with finesse. Try after 2024.

Smoky nose with tar, coffee, oak, with high ripeness, crême de cassis, kirsch. Prune and mineral notes with some smoky truffle. very modern and opulent, with a dense and vigorous, palate, yet balanced by a vibrant freshness paired with an immense concentration. Dark fruity, smoky and muscular finish with great persistence.

016 Vintage Tasted: Jun 2017 95/100
Deep dark ruby, intense core, violet glints, with a paler hue at the rim. An intense bouquet of blackberry jam, a hint of blackberries, orange zest, as well as spiced hardwood, and a touch of nougat. Good complexity followed by a red berry touch, well-integrated tannins, a fresh structure with hints of ripe cherries, and a delicate chocolate touch. Vibrant style.
