Renato Ratti is considered one of the leading producers in La Morra, particularly known for his classic approach to Barolo from selected cru vineyards. The Rocche portion comes from a vineyard in southern La Morra, where sandy and calcareous soil produces an elegant, perfumed version of Nebbiolo with a clear aroma spectrum and fine-grained tannins. 2007 was a warm year, characterized by early budding and a long, sunny growing season, which often resulted in rich, slightly more open wines with a velvety structure - but still with an excellent acid profile. The wine's classification as Barolo requires a minimum of 3 years of aging, part of which is in larger barrels, which is reflected in a balanced and understated oak style rather than dominant wood. Ratti consistently works to promote terroir and transparency in expression, and the Rocche vineyard is considered among the most elegant in the portfolio. The development potential for this vintage should extend well into the next decade. Vinous has typically rated these cuvées highly in their vintage reviews, particularly praising the finesse of the field.
