Soldera 2008
/ #65292553
Gianfranco Soldera was associated with Montalcino for many years and is among the most significant producers in the area. The starting point is a very classic approach to Brunello, where the Sangiovese grape is grown with great respect for nature and terroir. The Soldera wines ferment with their own yeast cells and are aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for several years before being released without filtration. The style is known for its elegance, finesse and complexity – often with refined layers of red fruit, floral tones, fine tannins and a marked minerality.
2008 in Montalcino is considered a challenging vintage, where the weather required selective selection of the grapes. However, Soldera often manages to create wines with a clear expression, balanced acidity and a very long aging potential, even in smaller vintages. Internationally, the wine is seen as one of the region's absolute reference points, and reviews are typically at the high end of the scale.
