DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

Egly-Ouriet Millésime 2002 – Grand Cru, Ambonnay
Disgorgement: January 2012 – 102 months on lees

This bottle represents one of the most iconic interpretations of the 2002 vintage from cult producer Egly-Ouriet. The wine is created from its own Grand Cru vineyards in Ambonnay and Verzenay with approximately 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay and has been aged sur lie for a full 102 months before disgorgement in January 2012 – an extremely long stay on the lees that only the most ambitious champagnes undergo.

Egly-Ourier's approach combines low dosage, partial barrel aging and uncompromising selection of grapes from old vines. The result is a champagne with pronounced vinosity and depth, with Pinot Noir from Ambonnay providing structure and weight, while Chardonnay contributes lift and precision.

Style & development
After more than two decades from the vintage and over 13 years in cork, the wine appears in its optimal window. The nose is complex and layered with notes of toasted brioche, hazelnut, dried citrus, light honey and chalky minerality. On the palate, the mousse is creamy and integrated, the acidity still lively, and the finish is long with the salty, stony signature that characterizes Ambonnay.

Condition & provenance
The bottle was purchased around 2016–17 and has since been stored in a wine cooler. The label and cap have a natural patina consistent with age.

The 2002 vintage is considered one of the greatest in Champagne, and Egly-Ourier's edition stands as a reference point for the terroir-driven, gastronomic style. A rarely offered bottle that combines maturity, energy and aging potential at the highest level.
