Barolo Docg 2015 Cerequio Cru 2015
/ #12384091
Located between the municipalities of La Morra and Barolo, Cerequio is considered one of the most prestigious crus of Barolo. A splendid amphitheater of vineyards where soils, exposure and microclimate combine to create exceptional Barolos. «Very select position», as described in 1880 by Lorenzo Fantini, author of the first monograph on viticulture in the province of Cuneo, was included by Renato Ratti among the «First Category» crus in the famous Barolo Map of 1965, the basis of today's classification in MGA, or Additional Geographic Mentions, which indicates this area as of «absolute prestige».
Due to its happy position, protected from the winds, Cerequio is called the «Riviera delle Langhe». Here Michele Chiarlo manages nine hectares of Nebbiolo da Barolo vineyards, of which about 6 acquired in 1988 from a property that had cultivated them continuously for over two centuries.
From the oldest parcel (1972) and very small (0.9 Ha), only in exceptional years, we obtain the Barolo Cerequio Riserva, a very small and exclusive enological gem. Finally, immersed among the rows of vines stands Palás Cerequio by Michele Chiarlo, the first relais dedicated to the Barolo crus, born from the recovery of an eighteenth-century noble palace.
