The origins of this Spanish winery date back to 1852 when Luciano de Murrieta began trading wines with the New World. The Ygay estate, with 300 hectares of vineyards, is located south of the Rioja Alta; the building, erected in the mid-19th century on the model of those in Bordeaux, is part of a spectacular complex that has been restored over the past eight years. The estate, of rare architectural beauty, is one of the oldest industrial buildings in Europe and houses, inside, the largest private collection of historic bottles from all over the world.

Today, Vicente Cebrián-Sagarriga, Count of Creixell, manages the cellar together with his sister Cristina together with a young and qualified staff who have been able to maintain the balance between tradition and modernity.

CHARACTERISTICS Planted in 1945, the vineyard is located at 485 meters above sea level. at the highest point of the 300-hectare Ygay property in Rioja Alta.

GRAPES: 100% Viura

MANUAL HARVEST: 15-17 September 2015

VINIFICATION: after pressing, the grapes remain in contact with the skins for a short period before pressing. A delicate and slow process that favors the extraction of all the aromatic potential of the grapes. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in steel for 24 days.

AGING: 15 months in 225 liter French barriques.

T HE TASTING Intense sip, with great structure, pleasantly broad and harmonious. On the palate all the aromatic charge of the grape is perceived together with the aromas of wood, flowers and dried fruit in the finish.
