Fabulous bottle of Spanna Umberto Fiore dated 1971 in magnum format in excellent condition in all respects. The Spanna is an Italian red wine produced from Nebbiolo grapes grown within the boundaries of the municipality of Gattinara which is located in the hills north of the province of Vercelli, north-west of Novara in Piedmont. The wine is made from a minimum of 90% Nebbiolo grapes and is renowned for its longevity. Notes: a fleshy and full-bodied wine with a subtle and clean nose. Hints of tar and bark, with nuances of cherries and rose petals. Light tannins.

A wine which, as the counter-label of the time states, "does not come from ancient possessions, but from man's toil"; and which has a challenging and dutiful goal: to redeem the wine of Treiso Pertinace, starting from the name, borrowed from the Roman leader and emperor Publio Elvio Pertinace, who was born where the cellar stands, has been witness since 1973 of an attachment to the land and to tradition that has never made concessions to fashions and trends. On a technical level, Pertinace has developed a style of vinification and aging that has remained faithful to the large barrels, even when the barrique winds blew strongly on those hills.
