/ #13614827
2 bottles of excellent Port at a ridiculous price - both Niepoort and Feuerheerd normally cost around 250 kr each!
Feuerheerd Colheita 2009, 92p/Food&Monopolet
Feuerheerd's was founded by Dietrich Matthias Feuerheerd in 1815. Today, Feuerheerd is owned by Barão de Villar-Vinhos and thus by the Van Zeller family, especially known for long-term ownership of Quinta do Noval.
"Feuerheerd is particularly famous for its Colheita wines, as the company has a fine stock of old vintages lying around ready to be bottled. In Villa Nova de Gaia, the company has cellars with space for three million liters of port wine, and Colheita wines are stored here" -Niels Ehler: Vinbladet.
Philipson writes that Parker has given a Feuerheerd 95p - however, these are older wines (1963 and 47).
Full-bodied and complex Colheita from 2009, which was also a great vintage in port. For everyone who wants to pamper themselves - or others.
Colheita possesses sweetness, acidity and elegance, which makes it suitable as a cool aperitif, which accompanies even the sweetest desserts, including most Christmas crackers, cheese or as a meditation wine.
92p/Mad&Monopolet: "A nice, elegant port wine with both energy and elegance. In the nose it has the scent of tropical dried fruit, marzipan, figs, Christmas sweets and caramel. Without becoming a candy bomb, it manages to be in balance with both sweetness and acidity in the mouth. Delicious port for the price."
Price at PW: 239.95.
Niepoort is one of the most highly regarded smaller family houses, especially for Vintage Port.
2017 Vintage gets 99-100p by Parker -LBV is less perfect, but with 2 more years in cask nice already, although it can be stored for 10-20+ years. 2015 got 94p/JamesSuckling -and 2017 is far better, but not yet rated.
Very deep, rich fruit with forest berries and chocolate. Long full and warm taste with good acidity under sweetness and fruit. Great now, can be stored for 20 years.
2017 was an excellent vintage with heat and little rain. Harvest started in September in perfect weather. The grapes come from Vinhas da Pisca, Vale do Pinhão and Ferrão, vines averaging over 70 years. The grapes are trampled and stored for 3.5 years in oak before bottling in July 2021. 80,000 fl.
