Presidential Colheita Port 2000

93p/Decanter. "Millennium" year gave superb Port. 2000 is bottled in 2022 after 22 years of aging in casks of varying sizes in the house's lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia.
The style is classic Colheita from a small vintage in quantity, but high quality wine. Light mahogany color and rosewood heart, soft and polished sweet aroma without medicine cabinet, but with syrup and nut aroma and sultanas in the taste with powdered sugar, balanced medium weight smoke, unalcohol, full and with a mild temperament. Give it some air - and serve it at approx. 12 degrees in nice large white wine glasses.
Nice on its own, but likes to master aged hard cheeses, crunches and nuts etc. After opening, the wine can last quite a long time, well over a month (in a refrigerator).

C. da Silva was founded by Corrêa Ribeiro in 1862. By marriage, Brazilian businessman Clemente da Silva took over management in 1933 and owned it until his death. In 1980, the house was sold to Spanish Rumasa, owned by the charismatic Ruiz Mateos, who invested heavily in the house without having the money for it, so the group went into financial meltdown and forced them to sell out.
In 2007, C. da Silva was taken over by French La Martiniquaise, which already owns Gran Cruz, one of the largest houses.
With La Martiniquaise's financial weight behind him, calm was created about C. da Silva's strategy and investments were made, technology was upgraded and not least know-how and the employment of some of the industry's best winemakers and blenders. The grapes are 33% Touriga Nacional, 33% Touriga Franca, 34% Tinta Roriz.
Today, C. da Silva's best-known brand in Denmark is "Dalva", while the sister brand, "Prèsidential" has lived an anonymous shadow existence on Danish soil, despite the quality of their Colheitas. Today Prèsidential is best known in the US, while Dalva is almost unknown on that side of the Atlantic....
