Perfect bid for wine for Christmas dinner!

One of Spain's most iconic wines on par with wines such as Vega Sicilia, Pingus and El Pisón.
The basis is the vineyard La Plana at almost 500 meters altitude; where old tempranillo and mazuelo (carignan) sticks grow in porous soils composed mainly of lime. In 2009, the blend consisted of Tempranillo (81%) and as much as 19% Mazuelo, which is harvested at different times and therefore also vinified separately. Tempranillo has thus been 28 months in American oak barrels, while Mazuelo has been given 28 months in French oak barrels.
After this, the wines are mixed and stored for 6 months in large cement vessels, and after bottling, the wine has been in the bottle for a minimum of 3 years before release.

9 years old at release and yet unbelievably young to go to: The color is still dark with a clear violet edge. After a while in the glass, the scent opens up with a wealth of shades of i.a. cherries, dill, cloves, vanilla, black currant, leather and baked orange peel.

The taste has a balance like few wines, all the elements of the wine sit exactly where they should. Packed with dark and spicy sweet fruit, distinguished fresh acidity and perfectly fine tannins in the aftertaste. A wine in perfect harmony!

Ygay is an almost immortal wine. Anyone who has tasted old vintages knows that it kindly lasts 40-50 years and simply develops an even greater complexity and roundness as time progresses. However, if it is enjoyed in its youth, we recommend pouring it on the carafe for 1-2 hours of oxygenation before serving at 15-16 degrees.
