Among the most authoritative denominations of this old-new course there is certainly Gattinara, capable of a host of excellent winemakers including the star Nervi. Founded by Luigi Nervi in 1906, it is the oldest winery in the denomination. It was purchased in 2011 by the Norwegian Astrup family, which holds the most significant part in collaboration with the Moestue, Wicklund and Skjelbred families and then passed under the command of Conterno. There are 24 hectares of vineyards owned, which include crus of great charm, such as Garavoglie, Valferana and Molsino. The latter, in particular, is the heart of the famous granite hills of the area, a wonderful amphitheater facing south. The 2003 is in great shape, ferrous and rich in root notes, elegant, with good tannins
