2 fl. (total price): 2021 Mich. Schneider Silvaner EISWEIN "Collection" + Rudoldf Müller 2017 TROCKENBEERENAUSLESE 2017 Schweigener Sonnenberg -2 noble sweet wines in a category that you often have to pay DKK 1000 -for each 375ml bottle!
2021 Michel Schneider Silvaner Eiswein "Collection", Rheinhessen. The beautiful 30 cm high Eiswein is made extremely rarely today - from grapes that are harvested and pressed at max. -6 degrees. The ice means an extremely small yield and very high acidity - a nectar that is fresh and yet very sweet. This one is from Michel Schneider, a historic house (1869) now owned by Rudolf Müller and is their branch on the Rhine.
Light color with rich aroma with rich filippa apple and lemon, very sweet, but with marked acidity under great sweetness. For me, better than the otherwise good 2018: "So bright on the nose with sweet ripe golden apple with some candied lemon drop and a touch of dried apricot. So bright on the palate with sweet ripe golden apple with some candied lemon drop and a touch of dried apricot. It has a medium length finish" -WineMissionary about 2018 (375ml).
Schweigener SONNENBERG TROCKENBEERENAUSLESE 2017, Rudolf Müller -Spätlese is late harvest, Auslese is selected bunches, Beerenauslese is selected berries -and Trockenbeeren are selected inside-dried berries, which are harvested extremely late, when the grapes approach raisins (see photo), with potential alcohol at MINIMUM 21% (but often higher).
Delicious noble sweet white in top years from Schweigen in the Palatinate, where the Sonnenberg (Mountain of the Sun) lies around the old town and stretches into Alsace (a small part is actually in Alsace). A beautiful deep golden colour, sumptuous bouquet of fruit and honey, very sweet but with good acidity behind, Actually perfect now, but of course extremely durable.
Fermentation is extremely difficult and slow, and the wine stops fermentation at approx. 10.5% with residual sugar of just over 150 g/l + fairly high acidity. The grapes are sylvans, kernels and optima.
3.7 in average on Vivino with 40 notes, i.a. Claus Bjarnø: "*****, Deliciously fruity and sweet with tons of peaches and apricots drizzled with honey. Perfect partner for the dessert with a lemon cream, where the acidity in the wine tied both parts together beautifully. We thank you". "*****, Really nice bottle and great balance and weight", -Adam Garner.
The wine is made by St. Paul the winegrowers of grapes on Sonnenberg and turn them into wine in ultra-modern cellars in Bad Bergzabern. Where the wine is bottled for Rudolf Müller, one of Germany's historic wine houses (a branch of the family is the historical owner of part of Doctor in Bernkastel).
