Belle Glos Balade Pinot Noir 2022
/ #45239042
Wine Spectator 93 points. 4.3 Vivino.
Deep and complex Pinot Noir from a single vineyard located very close to the Pacific coast. Here the sticks get the cool breeze from the sea and at the same time good sun, so the conditions are almost ideal here. Because of the temperature, the grapes don't get that big, but what they lack in size, they make up for in flavor concentration.
Winemaker Joe Wagner chose to destem all bunches before pressing and let the wine mature for 12 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which were brand new.
The deep blood-red color immediately reveals that this is wine that wants something. And when you put your nose in the glass, you are greeted with generous amounts of blackberry, raspberry tart, honeysuckle, rose petals, violets and Cherry Coke. The taste is clearly on the juicy and deep side with baked cherries, fresh strawberries, cranberries and a little vanilla greeting from the barrels.
