Pingus 2022 – Legendary vintage from Peter Sisseck
This is one of the most sought-after and acclaimed red wines in the world – Pingus 2022 from Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck and his renowned winery Dominio de Pingus in Ribera del Duero, Spain. The 2022 vintage is already being described as a stellar vintage and, according to Sisseck himself, is his favorite to date because it particularly captures his vision for the wine: Elegance, depth and freshness in perfect balance.
The wine is made from 100% Tempranillo from extremely low-yielding vines that grow on south-facing slopes and are among the oldest in the area – planted all the way back to 1929. Each grape is carefully selected, the stems are removed by hand, and fermentation takes place at low temperatures to preserve the aromatics. The entire wine is aged exclusively in new oak barrels, and there is no fining or filtering. The result is a wine with deep complexity, juicy fruit, great finesse and long aging potential.
Production is extremely limited – only around 7,500 bottles – and the price of a single bottle is typically between 8,000 and 10,000 DKK depending on the vintage and reviews. The bottle being sold here has been properly stored in a wine cooler at 12 degrees since purchase and is in perfect condition.
