Arnot Roberts Syrah Sonoma Coast 2015/ #5255355
Arnot Roberts Syrah Sonoma Coast 2015
Big time value for money and at the same time gives a good indication of what different and mega cool style Duncan Arnot and Nathan Roberts keep their Syrah wines in. They stay away from grapes that have been given oceans of heat and sun, so the wine ends like the pure bombs. Arnot and Roberts instead choose Syrah grown in places where it is so cold that the vines are close to not yielding grapes.
The fruit for the North Coast comes from a number of the fields, which are also produced as single field wines. The clusters are pressed whole, but the stems do not give off as much flavor here. Maturation takes place in neutral, French oak barrels.
The aroma is deep and offers especially blackberries, cassis, black pepper, spicy meat and notes of soil. The taste fills really well in the mouth and plays dazzling on the notes from the scent. You feel at the same time that this is a wine that has a long and fantastic life ahead of it… we are talking 25-30 years into the future. High class juice!

Most fun, though, is at the top, where one of my absolute favorite producers in California, Arnot-Roberts, is at stake again. The two relatively young boys, who live in Sonoma, buy grapes from the coolest fields they can find and save on the tree.
Very cool syrah with just 12 percent alcohol. With pepper, smoke, medicine cabinet and fermented meat in the nose, this wine leads the mind in the direction of the northern Rhône - which is a great place to be led! There is plenty of both acid and tannin in the mouth, so eat meat, preferably lamb or pork.
