Belle Glos Balade Pinot Noir 2022
/ #52702758
Wine Spectator 93 points. 4.3 Vivino.
Deep and complex Pinot Noir from a single vineyard located quite close to the Pacific coast. Here the vines get the cool breeze from the sea and at the same time plenty of sun, so the conditions are almost ideal here. Due to the temperature, the grapes do not grow as large, but what they lack in size they make up for in flavor concentration.
Winemaker Joe Wagner chose to destem all bunches before pressing and let the wine mature for 12 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which were brand new.
The deep blood red color immediately reveals that this is a wine that wants something. And when you stick your nose in the glass, you are greeted with generous amounts of blackberry, raspberry pie, honeysuckle, rose petals, violets and Cherry Coke. The taste is clearly on the juicy and deep side with baked cherries, fresh strawberries, cranberries and a little vanilla greeting from the barrels.
Produced in very limited quantities and usually sold only to restaurants.
Recommended retail price in Denmark when purchasing the first bottle is +500DKK. Sold out in most places.
Stored optimally since purchase. I have several bottles that I keep.
