Chateau Montelena, Napa Valley, Chardonnay 2018

One of the most iconic and most famous wineries in the Napa Valley, USA.

It is almost exclusively due to the Englishman Steven Spurrier, who ran a small wine shop and wine school in Paris.

He persuaded the finest people in the French wine industry to hold a blind tasting competition against the American wines in 1976.
"The judgment of Paris"
Long story short, then the Americans, to everyone's surprise, won over the French on both the white and red wines side.
The white who won was Château Montelenas chardonnay.
In 2008, the story was retold in the movie "Bottle Shock" starring Allan Rickman as Steven Spurrier.

Montelena makes excellent wines in high quality, paradoxically in a slightly French style, while at the same time adding the Napa touch that the volcanic soil and the Californian climate add to the wines.
