Antinori is one of the most prominent producers in Tuscany and has helped set new standards for the region's red wines with Tignanello . The wine is typically produced from Sangiovese supplemented with smaller proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and has achieved status as one of the area's most recognized red wines, although outside the classic DOCG rules. The 2013 vintage is characterized by good growing conditions with a cool spring season, followed by a stable and relatively long growing season, which has produced a red wine with a focus on both freshness and depth. The wine undergoes fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks before aging in oak barrels, which gives structure and finesse. Tignanello develops very positively over time and has documented aging potential, often over ten years. 2013 has received great reviews, e.g. 97 points from Wine Advocate and 94 from Vinous.
