Emmanuel Rouget Chorey-lès-Beaune 2017 is a classic red Burgundy made from 100% Pinot Noir from the commune of Chorey-lès-Beaune in the Côte de Beaune, an area known for delivering wines with pure fruit and accessible charm. Rouget, who continues the legacy of his uncle Henri Jayer, works with low yields, careful selection and a gentle vinification that highlights the grape’s finesse rather than power. In the glass, the 2017 vintage shows a clear ruby red color and an aromatic profile characterized by fresh cherries, raspberries and strawberries, complemented by light spicy and earthy nuances and a touch of cask. The palate is juicy and balanced with lively acidity, silky tannins and an elegant, relatively long finish, where the red fruit and discreet minerality linger. It is a wine that combines immediate drinking pleasure with typical Burgundian complexity, and works beautifully with poultry, veal, mushroom dishes or mild cheeses. The 2017 vintage in Burgundy generally produced harmonious wines with good maturity, and this bottle therefore appears open and charming already now, but can still develop extra depth with a few years of further aging. 🍷
