The wine is only produced in years when the grapes from the best plots in the fields reach a sky-high level … and such a year was 2014. And when you have a winemaker like Chuck Wagner to screw the wine together, it can’t go completely wrong. And it didn’t.
It is still young but after a few minutes the fantastic aromas come to life. Dark cherries, blueberry pie, boysenberries rise from the glass along with tar, milk chocolate and licorice. The taste is intense and dominated by dark cherries, blueberries, raspberry liqueur, boysenberries, light chocolate chips and tar … which ends in an almost eternal finish.
It is dazzling now but certainly will not get duller with time.

A ciò si aggiunge il fatto che è in media il vino con le valutazioni più alte degli ultimi 15 anni. Non è quindi un caso che sia nella lista dei vini da assaggiare almeno una volta nella vita per la maggior parte degli amanti del vino.
Il vino viene prodotto solo negli anni in cui le uve provenienti dai migliori appezzamenti raggiungono livelli altissimi... e un'annata del genere è stata il 2014. E quando hai un enologo come Chuck Wagner a mettere insieme il vino, non può andare tutto storto. E non è successo.
È ancora giovane, ma dopo pochi minuti i suoi fantastici aromi prendono vita. Ciliegie scure, torta ai mirtilli, boysenberry emergono dal bicchiere insieme a catrame, cioccolato al latte e liquirizia. Il gusto è intenso e dominato da ciliegie scure, mirtilli, liquore al lampone, boysenberry, gocce di cioccolato fondente e catrame... che si conclude in un finale quasi eterno.
Ora è abbagliante, ma di certo non diventerà più opaco con il passare del tempo.

Le fleuron de Caymus et le seul vin à avoir été élu deux fois « Numéro un mondial » par Wine Spectator. De plus, il est en moyenne le vin le mieux noté depuis 15 ans. Ce n'est donc pas un hasard s'il figure sur la liste des vins à déguster au moins une fois par an pour la plupart des amateurs.
Ce vin n'est produit que les années où les raisins des meilleures parcelles atteignent des sommets… et 2014 en est une. Et avec un vigneron comme Chuck Wagner pour élaborer le vin, il ne peut pas complètement échouer. Et ce ne fut pas le cas.
Encore jeune, il révèle ses arômes fantastiques après quelques minutes. Cerises noires, tarte aux myrtilles et mûres de Boysen s'épanouissent dans le verre, accompagnées de goudron, de chocolat au lait et de réglisse. Le goût est intense, dominé par les cerises noires, les myrtilles, la liqueur de framboise, les mûres de Boysen, les pépites de chocolat léger et le goudron… pour une finale presque éternelle.
C'est éblouissant maintenant, mais cela ne deviendra certainement pas plus terne avec le temps.
