Barolo Aldo conterno Cicala 1979
/ #11310287Even while awaiting the Epiphany, the "Italian wine collector" continues the search for and supply of fine vintage wines to offer to all who know them. Last arrival Barolo Bricco Bussia from the Cicala vineyard of Poderi Aldo Conterno dated 1979
The Barolo Bussia "Cicala" by Poderi Aldo Conterno is a great expression of Barolo, a classic, ancient and traditional interpretation. It was born in the legendary Cicala vineyard of the Bussia cru and is produced in full compliance with the most ancient oenological practices of the Langhe: long maceration on the skins to obtain maximum extraction and long aging only in large barrels.
Barolo Bussia "Cicala" is a robust, dense, material and grandiose wine. The grapes from the plants of the single Cicala vineyard are pressed and left to ferment in steel with the skins for 30 days. After racking, we proceed with several rackings, with the aim of oxygenating the wine and clarifying it naturally. Finally it is placed in large Slavonian oak barrels, where it remains to refine for at least 28 months.
It is a very structured Barolo rich in tannins, one of the longest-lived in the denomination. The olfactory spectrum is animated by intense aromas of ripe berries or jam, dried violets, potpourri, licorice and many spices. This magnificent complexity is also found on the palate, when the wine clearly reveals its great texture, power and compactness. A great Barolo to be left to age in the cellar for years.
