Charles Forey, longtime head of culture at Marcel Deiss in Alsace, leads the castle with owner (and wife) Sophie Guimberteau, great-grandson of Guimberteau, who founded the vineyard in 1923. The castle has 32 acres in several plots in the area between Lalande Pomerol and St Émilion.
80% merlot, 20% cabernet-franc, old vines, walks on clay / lime slope and plateau. Certified organic farming. Low yield, long maceration followed by storage 12 months in small oak barrels, new as well as old.
A very nice 2014, which is about to open now, rich bouquet of black currants and blackberries, solid fullness, but rounded tannins. Nice now after 7 years, but probably better in 2-3 years and quite durable. The bottles are the number.
Aromas that one finds in a palace attacking, round and charming, steeped in tender and foundation tannins that make this wine strong. 1 star "-Guide Hachette.
