One of the best of all "normal" Classicos is made by Baron Francesco Ricasoli, whose ancestor Bettino Ricasoli (1809 - 1880) created the original classic Classico in the 19th century. The family has owned the castle at Gaiole owned since 1141. The impressive castle also has an excellent restaurant overlooking some of the vineyards. Ricasoli makes lots of Chianti, so Brolio should not be confused with Ricasoli's other wines.
