A little about Potel:
Nicolas Potel is the son of Gérard Potel, who headed the excellent estate Pousse d’Or in Volnay. Nicolas was certainly more of a practical craftsman than he was a theorist. Even before his 18th birthday, he left school and began a career with winemakers in Australia and the United States before returning to Burgundy. Here he first worked for Domaine Roumier and Domaine Juillot, before ending up with his father again at the Pousse d’Or in 1992.
From 1998 to 2007, Nicolas tried his hand at the challenges of being a négociant (winemaker who buys grapes from other people's fields). Throughout that period, he excelled in his attention to detail, making it possible to get the most out of the grape material he had available. - THEIS VINE
